We know students need lots of practice to solidify phonics skills. We also know this is best accomplished through predictable routines. But there’s nothing that says predictable routines can’t also be fun and engaging.
This session will introduce you to some playful phonics practice routines which get students up and moving. We will also look at engaging, playful practice which can be done around the small group table.
You will learn games to practice:
- letter/sound correspondence
- Letter naming
- First sound segmentation
- Short vowel sound discrimination
- Sound segmentation for CVC words
- CVC word reading
- “Sneaky” e
- And probably even more!
